Why Go Scuba Diving on the Sunshine Coast?

If you’re going to go scuba diving, the Sunshine Coast is the place to do it. With clear waters, shipwrecks and an abundance of marine life, you’ll have an unforgettable adventure every time you don a wetsuit and breathing apparatus.

What’s more, scuba diving is practically a way of life for the people here, which means you’ll have access to world-class instructors and diving buddies. When you go scuba diving here, you’ll be surrounded by highly qualified trainers who have detailed knowledge of their surroundings. When you want to be in the best place to see hidden underwater sights, the Sunshine Coast is the perfect destination.

What’s Will You See?

Every adventure is different, so there’s no telling exactly what you’ll see the next time you slip below the surface of the water. However, scuba diving Sunshine Coast is popular for a reason. The range of places and sites to explore ensure you’ll never be left disappointed.

If you want to see marine life at its finest, why not take a trip to Mooloolaba Coral Reefs? Featuring some of the healthiest reefs in the world, you’ll be surrounded by tropical fish, turtles, shrimps, wobbegongs, sea stars, eagle rays and much, much more. With shallow dives available, all open water divers can enjoy scuba diving at this spectacular site.

If you’re visiting the Sunshine Coast between August and October, then you’re certainly in for a treat. This is the perfect time to take a Grey Nurse shark dive, so you can look forward to an up-close view of this mesmerising creature.

Take a trip to Moreton Bay Marine Park

Home to both Flinders Reef and Cherubs Cave, the Moreton Bay Marine Park is an exquisite place to scuba dive. Flinders Reef is just 5km off Cape Moreton and is home to more than 175 species of fish, so there is always something exhilarating to see. Marine life includes turtles, Manta Rays and Leopard Sharks, and you may even see Humpback Whales from the surface if you’re visiting between June and September!

Situated to the east of Moreton Island, Cherubs Cave is one of the most popular dives amongst the locals. With depths of 14m-30m, it’s ideal for more adventurous divers who want to gain experience at more challenging sites. Four entrances should make it easy to enter the Cave, but you’ll need to find your way through the kelp before using the natural light to guide you through this intricate labyrinth.

Dive the ex-HMAS Brisbane

The ex-HMAS Brisbane is one of the top five scuba diving sites in Australia and it’s easy to see why. Diving the wreck gives you the opportunity to explore a part of history in an utterly unique way. As you move through the ship, you’ll find yourself surrounded by clownfish, wrasse, puffers and lionfish. Octopus are common near to the wreck and you might notice the scorpionfish expertly camouflaging themselves against the coral.
