Recent studies have proven what we’ve always known, Mooloolaba hosts some of the most healthy and beautiful coral reefs and we can take you there! Dive Mooloolaba Reefs – we have up to 15 different scuba dive sites on the Sunshine Coast.
The majority of the Mooloolaba reef diving sites are shallow (15 – 20 metres) and are suitable for Open Water divers. The highlight of scuba diving Mooloolaba Reefs is the incredible macro life.

Lost Canyons is one of our most perfect sites for new divers and those looking for a laid back dive. It’s a very shallow site which guarantees a long bottom time, even for the novice, and has beautiful hard and soft corals. Lost Canyons is fantastic for macro diving, keep you head low and see how many Nudibranchs you can find! Don’t forget to look up every now and again though; if you’re lucky the occasional turtle or wobbegong will swim by.

It’s virtually impossible to get lost at this great dive site, given the ledge that runs in an East – West direction. There are heaps of beautiful Anemones, Clown Fish, and lots of cute little Christmas Tree Worms that call this place home. We recommend you check out the mini cave that usually has large pelagics, wobbegongs, slipper lobsters, and painted crayfish.

As the name suggests, there is an abundance or Nudibranchs at this site. The anchor sits on the top of a ledge, which is the shallowest depth of 20 meters. The bottom of the ledge is the deepest at 27 meters. There is sand at the bottom of the ledge, so the majority of the marine life is on the ledge wall and on top of the plateau. This is an easy site to navigate, simply follow the ledge and look for lots of macro life.

Being an Island, divers can gain protection from most wind directions. The south side of Old Woman Island offers the best marine life. Navigation is easy, mainly due to a ledge (wall) that can be explored from an East – West direction. Because of its shallow depth, it’s not uncommon for a new diver to have long and enjoyable 45 minute dives. There is an abundance of Nudibranchs at this dive site. A ‘must do’ dive site for all photographers who enjoy macro photography. Old Woman Island is also a haven for turtles, watch out, this bunch are a sneaky lot, they’ll slip away without you even knowing they were there. You might get a ‘hello’ on the surface if you don’t meet face-to-face underwater though.

The pinnacles is one of the most popular dive sites on the Mooloolaba Coral Reefs. There are 2 pinnacles that rise from the sand in 24 metres. The top of one pinnacle is 16 metres and the other rises to 14 metres. This site is very easy to navigate with beautiful corals and tropical fish. The highlight of this dive site is a massive blue anemone on the side of one of the pinnacles.

An exciting, advanced dive. You will reach sand if you swim in any direction for more than 60 meters. Imagine a pile of boulders (spanning 80 meters by 80 meters) encrusted in coral on top of a sandy seabed. The bommies are filled with Crabs, Lobsters, Crayfish, Bugs, Wobbegongs and even boat anchors. As part of our ongoing goal to keep the waterways clean, we often lift anchors, chain and get rid of fishing line that are deemed hazardous to the beautiful marine life. There are always large schools of pelagic fish hanging around this site.

Rock or Ship? You would bet your house that this was a ship that was sunk over a hundred years ago. You can make out the stringers in the hull. However, we have been assured that this is simply a reef. There are hundreds of Amenomes at this dive site with beautiful little Clown Fish that call them it’s home. Nudibranchs are common at this site. Large pelagics are are found around the sand.

The hole offers the only safe swim through on the Mooloolaba Coral Reefs. The hole is roughly 3 metres in diameter and drops down to an even larger bowl that resident Wobbygongs and Groupers call ‘home’. After you have swum through the hole it’s off to check out the beautiful ledge that runs in a North – South direction, with heaps of macro marine life.

Triple D is one of the newest sites we have found. It boasts a beautiful display of healthy, hard and soft corals. The anchor sits in approx 15m of water. There is a small swim through (maximum one diver at a time), a small cavern and lots of ledges running through the dive site. There are lots of Nudibranchs, lion fish, and a random treasure chest :).

Imagine a mini grand canyon, two large rocks rest side by side, with a split between the two. There are lots of bait fish between the two rocks. At the base of the rock you will find two tight swim throughs (tunnels). There are usually large cod hanging out inside the rocks along side Crayfish, Moray Eels and wobbegongs.

Wonderland boasts a beautiful display of healthy, hard and soft corals. The anchor sits in approx 10m of water, which makes it a perfect site for new divers or those who have not dived for a while. There are lots of nooks and crannies to explore, as well as a mini cave, unfortunately you cannot fit inside it. There are lots of Nudibranchs, Pipe Fish, Clownfish, and Anemones.
