Independent Diving Course (SSI)

• SSI Master Diver or equivalent
• 75 or more logged dives
• 18 years of age
• Fitness requirements (you need to have gone to the pool in your own time and completed these two fitness tests before you can enroll in this course)
  • Complete a 700 metre snorkel (using mask, snorkel and fins) in under 15 minutes. You can’t use your arms, simply your legs
  • Complete a 400 metre swim in your total diving system including your redundant first and second stage regulator and stage tank in under 15 minutes

• Specialty instructor for one full day and supervision for your ocean dives

• Internationally recognised digital certification card

• 2 dives on the ex-HMAS Brisbane wreck. This can be done in your own time however it needs to be completed with an SSI independent diving instructor to gain your qualification.
• Redundant first and second stage regulator with an SPG (Hire Equipment Available)
• 5.7 litre stage tank and rigging kit (can be rented from Scuba World for $20 per day)

Day 1 | 7:30am – 4:30pm: Academic session, pool sessions and finalise paperwork

• Special considerations and rescue techniques required to dive independently

The primary goal of any SSI Specialty course is to teach you important skills in a fun environment. All courses are taught using home study, short academic sessions, and in-water training.

A certified SSI Independent Diver possess the skills to safely and comfortably dive without a designated dive buddy.
