A MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER – IAN MCKINNON

I had my very first scuba dive at Aqaba, Jordan in 1974. I can still vividly remember the sensation of breathing underwater for the first time. Some of the prettiest coral gardens I have ever seen were in the Aqaba Gulf. The water was always warm and clear. In 1979 I opened Brisbane’s second dive shop along with my former partner Conor Craig. It was Conor who taught me to dive. Scuba Diving is an adventurous sport which comes with inherent risks. These risks can be minimised with the correct training. Scuba World has always been very safety conscious. Our 100% safety training record is arguably the finest anywhere in the world. I’ve been lucky to dive in some of the most exotic dive locations in the world. Places like Malaysia, Indonesia, Micronesia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga, Hawaii, Caribean, Red Sea and right along the Gt Barrier Reef. I’ve observed countless dive operations across Australia and around the world. I can honestly say Scuba World runs a dive operation second to none. We aim to keep it this way. You have my personal guarantee that your safety remains my number one goal. We aim to give you the best diving experience possible.

ABOUT US

Scuba World was established in 1979 as a small, modest dive shop in Toowong, Brisbane. Thirty years on Scuba World has grown into one of the leading dive stores in Australia, located on the Sunshine Coast. Employing sixteen highly qualified and experienced staff, a custom built 11.3 metre (38ft) naiad rigid hull inflatable boat, an onsite heated training pool, state-of-the-art rental equipment and a stunning showroom located on the beautiful Wharf in Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast, Australia.
