Learn to Dive FAQs

The minimum age to learn to dive is 10. However, we have a company policy of 16 years. Over our 45 years of combined diving experience, we have found children 16 years and older are more mature and get more out of the course. We have found some kids under 16 cause multiple interruptions to the class.

The pool dive experience is your introduction to the underwater world. This entry-level program gives you the opportunity to experience the underwater world, in confined water, without committing to a full open water diver program.

A pool experience is beneficial for the following reasons because it ensures you:

  • Feel comfortable and safe breathing underwater and using scuba diving equipment
  • Feel comfortable and comfortable completing the fundamental skills that you will be taught and required to demonstrate in your learn to dive course
  • Feel comfortable and safe equalizing the pressure in your ears
  • Have fun scuba diving. If you are not, what’s the point in learning to dive?!

We dive the Coral Reefs just a short 15-20 minute boat ride from our shop. You will explore some of the best dive sites that South East Queensland has to offer. In summer you are likely to see graceful rays, turtles and masses of tropical fish while enjoying 26°C plus water temperatures. From June to November you could witness the spectacle of the migrating humpback whales on the way to or from the dive site. This is a bonus!! There are numerous sandstone formations covered with hard and soft corals, numerous ledges, caves, pinnacles and gutters to explore.

Our dive vessel departs from outside our dive shop, right next to TANK DAY SPA
