Twice a year Scuba World hold a very special event, the 'HAVE FUN & GET LEID' travel night.

In the first half of the year, we launch all the trips we will be running the following year. We also offer excellent deals for those who book on the night!

In the second half of the year we provide a recap of all the trips in that still have spaces available. 3 out of the 7 trips we are running in 2018 are now full (Hideaway Island in Vanuatu, Komodo in Indonesia and Truk Lagoon in Micronesia), however, there are still spaces available for: Beqa Lagoon in Fiji, Uepi in Solomon Islands, Cenotes in Mexico and Santo in Vanuatu.

It’s a dress up, tropical theme night. The crazier your outfit, the better. You’ll need to wear at least 1 item that is loud, bright, and tropical to get into the event. The event will be held at The Yacht Club (33-45 Parkyn Parade, Mooloolaba 4557). Drinks & food will be available to purchase.

As usual, we will still have our monthly Scuba World fun and informal social/ graduation where divers can get together, have a drink, and chat about their recent diving experiences.

Presentation of recent student achievements are a massive part of the night! Each student who has reached a new level in diving receives a certification card and or certificate. We love to recognise the constant improvement of our divers.

Last, but certainly not least, we draw the monthly ‘DIVE INTO WIN‘ prize. To find out more about how to win visit scubaworld.com.au/dive-into-win-competition/

Don’t forget everyone is welcome at the monthly social/ graduation. Divers, non-divers, family and friends. If you have never been before or are thinking about inviting a non-diving friend, the team at Scuba World promises to make everyone feel very welcome.

Wolf Rock

Wolf Rock

Oct 21, 8:00am - Oct 20, 10:00pm

Scuba World
The Wharf, Parkyn Parade
Mooloolaba, QLD  4557 Map

The Wolf Rock formation of four volcanic pinnacles found north of Double Island Point Queensland and is considered to be one of Australia’s top ten diving destinations. These pinnacles provide some fantastic diving with plenty of vertical gutters and overhanging ledges to explore and it’s a perfect site for multi-level diving. It is part of the Great Sandy Marine Park and has a 1.5 km protection zone around the formation for the protection of the critically endangered grey nurse sharks. Wolf Rock is a critical habitat for the species where they can be found all year round. It is the only known site on the East Coast of Australia where pregnant females gestate while pregnant. The grey nurse shark grows to a size of around three metres; they look quite fierce but are actually quite a harmless species of shark.

Uepi, Solomon Islands

Mooloolaba, QLD  4557 Map

Uepi offers the unique opportunity to dive first-class sites that are only minutes away from the dive shop; conveniently located either off the edge of the island or just a short boat trip away. Diving is based on multi-level planning, beginning at 30 meters or less and ascending slowly throughout the dive, so Dive Computers are required. It is common for divers to stay in the water for an hour or so on each dive because the top 5-10 meters have endless species to discover, allowing a diver to get maximum value from each dive. Rarely will you view such diverse concentrations of marine-life in such a varied environment, ranging from lagoon coral gardens to vertical drop-offs into 2000 meters of ocean (The Slot), mostly within the confines of a three kilometer stretch of reef.

Santo, Vanuatu

Santo, Vanuatu

Mar 20, 12:00am - Mar 25, 9:00pm

Scuba World
The Wharf, Parkyn Parade
Mooloolaba, QLD  4557 Map

Luganville is the main town on Espiritu Santo, and although there is excellent diving in the vicinity of Luganville, diving is mainly centred on two specific, and unique sites. The main attraction is the “S.S. President Coolidge”, a luxury liner that was used as a troop ship during WWII. The impressive wreck (198 metres long) is one of the largest accessible wrecks to sport divers anywhere in the world. Dive Vanuatu. The dive can be done from boat or shore with an easy walk to a line that leads to the ship’s bow. Visibility can range from 15 to 35 metres, and the sea is usually calm. Complete with military supplies and personal belongings scattered across the ocean floor, and of course the famous “Lady and the Unicorn” this dive is not to be missed. Not far away, is another amazing dive site “Million Dollar Point” where the US navy dumped tonnes of valuable machinery and supplies after the war.

Cenotes, Mexico

Cenotes, Mexico

May 18, 12:00am - May 28, 9:00pm

Scuba World
The Wharf, Parkyn Parade
Mooloolaba, QLD  4557 Map

DIVE CENOTES
Cenotes (“sen-o-tays”) are limestone sinkholes which have become flooded with freshwater over millions of years.
Cavern diving in the Cenotes of the Riviera Maya is a truly memorable experience. Few divers get the opportunity to experience cavern diving, so to have so many caverns available in one area means that if your are going to be diving from Playa del Carmen you really should consider completing a Cenote dive.
Cavern diving has some very specific terminology and rules which help to keep your dive safe and fun.
DIVE COZUMEL
When diving in Cozumel you can expect to see stunning coral walls. As well as coral you can also expect to see some great examples of fish which, although found in smaller numbers than in Playa del Carmen tend to be larger as thy have had a better opportunity to live a longer life in the protected waters of the Cozumel Marine Park.
The ocean current in Cozumel varies from moderate to strong. Most dive sites are 18m or deeper. Due to these characteristics, diving in Cozumel is recommended only for experienced, Advanced Open Water divers.
